The Haunted Hertogenbosch

The night of the dead is coming and, just as the tradition says, a cleansing ritual will be held at the old St. Jacob Church (now known as the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center).

Nobody knows how this tradition started, but the legend says that the church must be cleaned of every potential evil spirit present, or else the Gates of Hell will open and the demons will invade the city.

Old superstitions or truth? Nobody knows anymore, but, as you do every year, you head out to the church to witness the ceremony. Much to your surprise, the courtyard of the church is empty, with no one around. Just as you’re planning to leave, you hear a faint moan coming from the doors.
